Mix of tyre sizes. Advice please.

As you may have read on another thread, I damaged a front tyre driving down through France into Spain. I currently have Kumho 255/45/18 on the van. The garage in France did not have a tyre of that size in stock, and to cut a long story short they gave me a used tyre (excellent condition). It is however a different size 245/50/18 (same speed/load rating). That was put on the rear so that my driving wheels are the same size. They assured me it was safe to drive as the difference in size is negligible.

My question therefore is. Is it safe for me to continue my trip including my drive home to the UK where I can get the tyre swapped for the same make etc from Blackcircles or should I get it changed now potentially for a different brand but f the same size?

Cheers

The "new" tyre is only 2.2% different in circumference compared with the other three, the garage wisely put the odd size on the rear. I'd wait until I got back home to sort it.
Space saver tyres, approved by the authorities and deemed safe, are far more different to normal tyres.
IMO if you bear it in mind and don't try to set any speed records, its safe to get you home.

No worries there mate. Years ago went back from Finland with 3 18” alloy and one 16”. If the tyre is in good condition don’t get stressed.
