Just continuing with the little touches here and there to make the van feel a bit more comfortable — and a bit less plastic, to be honest.
One minor annoyance I’ve had is the door pockets. Being hard plastic, anything in them tends to rattle and move around, especially when the music’s up loud. It’s not a huge issue, but enough to be irritating.
While I was sound deadening and insulating the doors, I decided to take a proper look at the pockets. To my surprise, they’re actually made of two pieces plastic welded together. With a bit of heat and patience, I was able to pop them apart.
I then lined the inside with the same carpet used throughout the rest of the build, and reattached the parts using a mix of plastic bonder and a bit of plastic welding (of sorts).
Result?
The pockets feel more solid
No more rattling or buzzing from loose items
It seems to have added to the overall vibration deadening too
For context, I sound-deadened the doors using Dodo foam board and door skin – so this little tweak complements that nicely.
Curious to hear what others have done — any other small mods you've made that ended up making a big difference to comfort or d
riving experience?
