Have an odd noise when revving the engine it’s like a boost pipe leak sound have smoke tested I did find a split and have replaced it. Made no difference though.

Is it possible to have the tablet under the bonnet and control the trotte via VCDS? The soft limiter prevents higher revs

I guess you could run the oil pressure changeover valve test which revs the engine to 3000rpm for about 10 seconds, but to initialise it you have to press the accelerator, so you wouldn't have much time to dive out and stick your bonce under the bonnet.

Have pressure tested the intake side covered the whole thing with leak spray no obvious signs. I’ve also individually pressure tested each part and smoke tested. I smoke tested the exhaust side and found a pin hole in the exhaust and also a poor connection where the front section and the rear section of the exhaust are joined.

I rebuilt and found under pressure a leak could be heard if I rocked the charge cooler about. I have looked at the intake manifold and found one of the bolts to be only hand tight directly below the throttle body. Have put it partially back together again and awaiting the new exhaust clamp will weld the pin hole up also then test again.

Hopefully better results. After that I’m gonna test supplementary water pump etc case the noise isn’t actually related to the intake system.

This is the answer for anyone wanting the computer to rev the engine for a prolonged period while fault finding under the bonnet
