Getting 2016 T6 swamper with a 35mm lift kit with 235/65/17 BFG K02 tyres looking to drop it down to fill the arch gap and have better handling and less riad noise.
How did you get on with this, as I'd like to do the same? ThanksGetting 2016 T6 swamper with a 35mm lift kit with 235/65/17 BFG K02 tyres looking to drop it down to fill the arch gap and have better handling and less riad noise.
All Season are the best tyres for most people. The current leading manufacturers provide some good competitions. I am waiting for Michelin to advertise available sizes for CrossClimate 3 which where supposedly available from July 1st but all I have seen to date are press coverage and advertising and some limited reviews which are encouraging but do not know if they will bring out my particular favoured at the momment size. I tend to use 255/55R18 and have multiple sets rims. I live off road so use BFG KO2 and the like and use them over winter months when access here is quite difficult depending on weather, have used winter tyres which are good on the road but not for my access and wear badly in warmer months another stet of road tyres for a short summer but wanted CrossClimate AS tyres and would then just have 2 sets of tyres instead of 3. Also BFG are slowly changing KO2 to KO3 a few sizes at a time and I will changeover to those from also when my size is available and become more worn so will then have just BFG and Michelin and change when necessary. I can then dispose of a set of wheels. For me quite an exciting time waiting and reading reviews trying to hedge for the best compromises. Weather plays a big part for me. The last few years have been a little different weather patterns are heavily influenced by Sun Spot minimum and maximum making tyre change over difficult to predict with some years not changing tyres over at all just staying with BFG which as an AT are not the best for on road travel.Makes sense, we have General Grabber AT3s and they're not great for grip on wet roads. Would like to replace these with All Season tyres and reduce the lift if possible.
I imagine that quality winter tyres are a must for you, NE Scotland gets mighty cold in the winters and one must make every effort to stay safe! Winter, we always pack a shovel, windscreen wash, scrapers window hand spray, personal lighting, additional warm clothing coats etc sleeping bag/s or quilt. We have some excellent reflective coats that are practically blinding if struck by a light, reflective beanie hats and so on, Oh something to eat and drink.Great feedback Kind of Blue. I totally understand the issues trying to match tyres with the seasons. We live in the North East of Scotland and used to use winter tyres for the snow but haven't really needed them last couple of years. I'll keep an eye out for the new CC 3's. The current tyres are 235/65/R17 and these seem to fit the lift kit which is on the van. However, if I can reduce the height a bit, then I could go with a more road based size and profile of tyre. Thanks
Pics?Lowered mine as far as we could go on ST-X coilovers running Navis AT wheels with Michelin Cross Climate SUV tyres 235/65/17 (load rated) really good grip on wet roads, low noise and get decent fuel econ. Handling and comfort is great.. vast improvement over the uprated RAC T32 rear springs! After more than 2 years, I'd still highly recommend.
