Loose plug behind front grill.

Hi, Please could someone let me know what this plug is that’s floating behind my front grill. I have a T6 that’s had a 6.1 front end put on it so I wonder if it’s not needed but it would be good to know what it is and if I need to protect it from the weather. Thanks.

That’s the external temperature sensor, on a t6 there’s a hole in the plastic in the rear of the bumper that it pushes into to stop it flapping around
