I fitted an Exide 950 which is the largest battery that will physically fit. Cost me around £150 and 10mins of cursing.

Did they wear a mask when they quoted you that much?
My advice would be to buy the battery online from Tanya Batteries and pay a local garage no more than an hours labour to install and code.
Hopefully you aren’t using the garage that quoted you £425 on a regular basis, I don’t know how they have the balls to come up with figures like that.
You did tell them that you only needed the one battery?
They broke in to the van and stole the battery! then other thieves came and pushed the van away!Obviously the battery was connected and the alarm was on if anyone asks
Pretty sure the logs would show when it was disconnected.I'd leave the battery in place just not connected.... if it got nicked then I'd have no idea why 'they' may have disconnected the battery
Maybe to silence the alarm ?

Are batteries easy to fit or is it better done by a garage, I heard it has to be coded or something. Sorry not at all mechanical
I buy all my batteries from batterygroup, best price around by miles
In theory they need coding if you’re not swapping like for like. In practice the van will adapt to the new battery in a few charge /discharge cycles.
