Build up around outside of rocker/injector seal. Looking for advice.
I had a misfire after having injectors replaced a few weeks ago and realised the stretch bolts hadn't been changed so I decided to remove and refit, I also had some gunk building around the seals on injector#1 :
- new copper seals
- new o-rings
- new rocker cover seals
- new bolt grommets
- new stretch bolts.
I found injector #3 had carbon around it and the copper washer stayed in the bore so explained the misfire. I remove the washer from the bore, cleaned it all up well (injector and all bores) - new copper seals + o-rings refitted.
Engine is running really nicely since - all was dry as a bone on start up with no signs of any leaking - did a test drive and #4 had some liquid pooling.
Cleaned it up and since then have been running / inspecting and I seem to be accummilating very small amounts of what I can't be sure is oil or diesel. (I have been sure it's both at various points of driving myself mad and now which I'd syringed the pool out to refferr to as amounts are so much smaller now).
I did remove the rocker/injector seals without removing the rocker cover which I'm since reading is not the way. It was a bit of a pain to pry them out.
So it's either oil coming up or diesel coming down from the leak off but if that's the case it's impossible to spot. I wondered if anyone had any experience of the same before I take it all apart again with added expense of a new rocker in addition to washers/bolts and seals again..
