Kenwood DMX8019D install Query?

Hi folks,
Just installed the Kenwood DMX8019D in my 69 T6, just a couple of things I would like to know,
1. Should you be able to turn on the unit without turning the ignition on?
2. When the unit first comes on and shows Kenwood on the screen, how do you get the VW logo welcome screen instead?
3. Should the unit show up on the screen between the clocks etc like showing what radio station your playing?

I've had mine in a year or so now and been happy with it.

1) Depends how you've wired it
2. Don't know, not something I've ever wanted as the Carplay screen comes up within seconds anyway
3. No it won't display details on MFD

Hi, sorry absolut5 I’m not the brightest spark with electrics but I brought the plug and play harness from you and just plugged it in.

I only fitted it today because i broke the screen and i've replaced it. On my mfd i have the digital speedo showing and that always stayed on 0 when i was playing the dab No sign of track or station showing on mfd.

Mine has never shown anything on the MFD either, apart from "Carplay". Having said that, I wouldn't want it anyway as I want the digital speedo visible at all ltimes.

You have to flip through the mfd , to show audio menu if it’s there, it won’t pop up when you are playing g with the radio, the factory ones do not.. as Andy mentioned he has the speedo up all the time, as I do..

Check the round din plug on the back of the unit

Hi Guys,
Yeah sorted the black round plug needed a little wiggle and yeah sorted! now shows up what radio station playing on audio mdf!
