Removed Kenwood and now it doesn't turn on

Hi guys,

As the title says, I removed my Kenwood DMX9720 as I have installed a reverse camera so its a matter of simply plugging in the RCA. I also wanted HDMI out from the radio to plug into the back of my digital dash so that I can see the Carplay nav on the cluster.

Ok, so I undid the screws that hold the screen in place.
Removed the radio unit, plugged in the RCA and the HDMI into the back of the radio and put it back in place.
I then turned the key (without the Head unit screen connected) in anticipation of the HDMI being shown on the dash, nothing happened. I think this is where I made the mistake and the Kenwood had a 'wobble'
When I temporarily put the screen back nothing happens.

I have checked all the fuses, both at the back of the radio and on the car - they are fine
I've left the car off overnight, still no screen power up.

I woke up in the middle of the night with a brainwave, the radio has constant power in to keep all the memory settings with a trigger wire that powers it.. I'm thinking disconnect the harness so there's no power to the unit at all almost forcing a reset.

Any thoughts on what could be wrong?

I don‘t know if that helps but… I have an Alpine Halo 9 and this unit has a „safety feature“ which means that the screen has a small contact-plate on the back of the screen which must be put in place to stress a micro-switch inside the unit. If not mounted correctly the unit won‘t start. I‘d try to fix the screen as before with all the screws and then try again.

I came home and tried this, it seems there is the same safety feature with this head unit. Put all the screws in, turned the key and the radio turned on.

Thanks so much for this :)
