Jumpy on cold start

Last few days as it’s been really cold (-3) the van feels a bit jumpy on its first start . Only lasts about 5-10 seconds . Any ideas ?

Not sure how to define the ‘jumpy’ that you mention but the battery performance will drop the colder it gets plus assuming it’s a diesel the ignition slightly impaired the colder it gets. Each cylinder has a electrical glow plug that operates for a short time before and after starting.

Cheers for the reply . The van just feels a little bit jerky whilst ticking over in neutral . Only last for 10 seconds max

You may have a glow plug on the way out but I wouldn’t worry about it. The van will start (badly) with 2 of 4 cylinders firing.

Starts fine just a few seconds after it’s jumpy. Maybe try let the glow plugs warm up a bit longer before ignition
