Is this setup the factory-fit aux battery wiring?

I was going to get a leisure battery fitted before camping season commences and was having a little explore under passengers seat when I came across a nice surprise.
There’s already one there I didn’t no about and wasn’t listed in the ad when I bought the van.
It looks like it’s factory fitted.
Only problem is I don’t know exactly what I have there re chargers, relays etc.
I was hoping somebody more knowledgeable than me might be able to tell me.
I have also included photos under the bonnet, there doesn’t seem to be any relays/chargers there.
So I have attached some photos of my surpriseB0779751-9797-40B3-B6F5-A8D775E2FE27.jpeg1B20713D-BED5-4779-B236-6A1C28C35C61.jpeg4DF11000-3D6B-4B41-852D-FA90859D0603.jpeg03B0C895-CCF6-42BA-A3AA-B5737525AB3A.jpeg624F3B27-62BA-4C07-8A66-34F03CDBD6D5.jpegC98E273F-CD02-49CA-BECA-B20E19E0041A.jpeg237D3DD4-6D26-4B20-B9BD-ED3AE2B25D4D.jpeg0B5BD2FD-2CFD-45BA-9243-C7D5A4723033.jpeg50185AC8-FA87-4C63-8F15-AA6B195D38FA.jpegB3760275-58DB-4147-985A-70B525B69B3F.jpeg

welcome to T6F

You have indeed got the factory leisure battery kit fitted..

That the 100A relay, 80A Fuse fed from the main Fuse box under the starter battery.

Your relay will be triggered via Engine Run signal from the BCM.

have a quick look here for some back ground. (same setup)

you can just upgrade to a DC-DC charger, more here :

@travelvolts does a plug and play for your setup if you dont want to mess with the OEM configuration.

your relay (SCR) charges the AUX battery via this fat cable . .

new to the VW T6 world . . . ?

Grab a cup of tea and your slippers for some relaxing reading . . .

start here :

you will get used to the terms fairly quickly SLA / EFB+ / AGM - is the various battery tech used these days.

Out of interest, what is the extra battery currently (sorry no pun intended!) powering?

I have no idea to be honest. The only thing I have a little bit above standard is an aux heater, and that’s another mystery to me. Not sure if it heats the van, the engine coolant , both, none?
All new to me at the moment and because of lockdown had had the chance to get out and use it to find out.
I’m hoping it will power 6 downlighters, a couple of double usb sockets and a 12 v power outlet for a cool box.
This forum and people like you are a fountain of knowledge.
I have already learned from the links you sent me.

Happy days, so what are you going to spend your extra wad on now????

not sure exactly on yours : @Paul Binding

but looking at the pick . . . you have one fat cable feeding the battery ( from the SCR).

then two thinner cables coming off the battery . . .

on my PV (Panel Van) i had one , thinner cable comming off the battery.

that was feeding the upper dash top 12v power socket . . . via a 15A fuse on the carrier under the seat. ( the lower dash 12v socket was fed from the starterbattery)

so assuming yours is the same . . . im not sure what the second feed is for ?

Plenty of overs things in the pipe line, suede headliner, with downlighters, seat upgrade to recalls plus leather and alcantara retrim, ovano bed system, new wheels. The list goes on and this forum doesn’t help either seeing what other people have done.
I totalled up the spend for my wish list and at the last count is was £7.5K. And that Is on top of the wads I have spent on Floyd already in 5 months.
You gotta love it though.

Other cable might be towbar, judging by the additional fuses

Why would a tow bar be connected to a leisure battery? I have an aux heater so it could well be for that
Because locating the fuses under the seat makes things easier and 13 pin sockets contain more than just the lights. If you have an aux heater then that will be on the leisure battery also.
