is this a 4Mo or 2WD?

Hi viewed a badged 4 motion 6.1 DSG SWB. When I did HPI vehicle check it came up as 4x2 wheel drive. No mention of 4 motion on log book or vehicle check. Seller is private.
Any advice please

Was it a 4Mo? Did you look underneath?

It's not unheard of for VW to register them incorrectly from new.

Thanks for reply. Had a look under at front end, looked like a skid plate covering underside of engine, not sure if standard. Should have looked back end but didn’t. Not sure what I should be looking forward to confirm 4 motion. Could it be badged 4 motion but not be? Does log book normally show 4 motion?
Thanks Andy

Doesn’t that mean it’s got 4 wheels that are driven by 2; as in its a two-wheel drive?
I say this as it’s a term used to describe lorries, ie: 6x2.

I’m not sure, just want to make sure I’m buying a 4 motion as V5 & HPI check do not state 4 motion.
I looked at another 4 motion a while ago & all paperwork showed 4 motion.
Maybe I need to take a mechanic or ask seller to take me some photos under as van is 2hrs away from me, thanks

On my V5 it has 4M in the model, but to be sure you need to look under for a propshaft.

d.3 Model California Ocean TDI BMT 4M SA

I'm not sure that you need a mechanic to spot a propshaft, rear deferential and drive shafts.

I’m a mere sparkle, I have no understanding of how the 4 motion works or it’s mechanics. I shall ask the seller to send me a picci of the underneath of van. I’m assuming non 4 motion are front wheel drive minus the prop shaft, thanks Andy

If this is a private sale and the seller is two hours from you, and presumably unknown to you, you need to exercise caution.
This van may well be perfectly straight and a simple admin error has occurred, but please don't part with any money until you've physically seen the rear differential on that van, regardless of any photos you see. If you're not entirely confident about vehicles, take somebody with you who is, to check it over.

Where is the van? It may be local to a member reading this who could pop and have a quick look.

Hi sounds like good advice, thank you!

My V5 also states 4motion, to be exact field D3: TR-PORTER T32 H-LN TDIBMT4M SA
I've not noticed it before but I don't know what the 'SA' refers to.
