Internal motion sensor and alarm going off.

So my wife and the kids went to Scotland and stayed in the van this weekend. It’s her first time.
she mentioned she locked the van with the keys and pressed the button on the B pillar to deactivate the internal sensor, but the alarm still went off during the night.
is this normal?

First press the B pillar button and then lock the van with the key to deactivate interior monitoring.

But for this purpose I would simply use drivers door locking switch as this one doesn't activate dead lock.

Drivers door must be open for pillar button to work
As above prob easiest to lean over and use door button

Just drivers door locking switch.

B pillar switch is correlated with remote key only.
