My main issue with Howdens, aside from the preposterous amount of questioning that even Flux didnt feel necessary, was their T&Cs.
To say they were pernickety and onerous was putting it mildly. For example, in the event of a theft claim the policyholder is supposed to produce a certificate confirming a cat 2 immobiliser is fitted. Well, all cars and light vans sold in the UK since 2002 (and in many cases well before) have a cat 2 immobiliser as standard, and no one receives such a piece of paper when they buy a new vehicle. Its simply another T&C to trip up the unwary and tip the scales in the underwriters favour.
I was quite glad when they turned out not the be the least expensive.
