Improve comfort

Hello

I'm unsure what type of garage to go to to check what springs I have and what my options are but my gut is it will be bog standard T6 caravelle ones.

Im a wheelchair user with an ex mobility VW van with tail lift.

Every crack in the road feels like we hit a pot hole. The van constantly rattles and shakes, huge vibrations. I don't bounce and things inside are comfortable/stable but it feels like a very hard ride. And noisy.

I would like to improve the comfort long term as I do decent mileage. It can't be good for the car to have so much rattling non stop?

But even if I knew whether it was shocks or dampeners or springs I have no idea what type of garage I need to find to do it for me. I guess if I know the parts, a normal garage would do it.

No idea where to start

Thanks Karen, Glasgow

Hi Karen

I see these folk (see link) were recommended on the forum, and as enthusiasts as well as specialists they should know a thing or two about suspension. i had my standard suspension on my T6.1 changed/upgraded and I agree it was very erm agricultural 😀

Do not pass Go.

Do not collect £200.

Go straight to Cannock.

I'm not interested in lowering the van. I think it looks ok. I will need to read these posts a few times as some of it wasn't clear for what I need and what is options.

I'll give the Glasgow garage a call too as I have a growing list of odd jobs on it.

The Cannock is a possibility too as I'm regularly up and down front Birmingham.

Thank you so much for the ideas and help 😊

Steve at CRS will tailor the solution to your exact needs.

Like many campers, my van was saggy at the back, and so slight lowering of the front was in order, but nothing dramatic and you probably wouldn't know unless you know.

But it was the shock absorbers that transformed the ride.

It's still not a car, but it's not a builders van anymore.

They've done more Transporters than I've made hot dinners, they will definitely have the answer for you.

Crs will no doubt be able to improve ride comfort without changing your ride height. Once you have spoken to them and if you agree to one of their solutions they have also been known to ship the required parts and provide instructions to a local garage of your choice.
