Calling all T6 electrics gurus!!
My 2016 Kombi had non OEM towing electrics installed before I became the owner of the vehicle, I don't know by who or when, but it's got a 13 pin socket under the rear bumper and a couple of little boxes under the passenger seat.
It didn't have a tow ball on the tow bar, so I bought a new tow bar with removable ball and fitted it recently. A few days ago I had to move the caravan to get access to the rear of the house, so I hooked it up and noticed that it didn't turn off the rear parking sensors of my van. Not a major problem, I only have to tap the screen on the stereo to stop the beeping, but I had hoped it would do it automatically with the caravan connected up.
I've done a bit of research (a 2 minute google!) on the two boxes and posted some pics of them below with links to the on line blurb I have found for each. Also below is an extract from a VCDS scan I did when I retrofitted my LED headlights that I think is relevant.
My question is, do you think it's possible for this setup to control the parking sensors with some VCDS coding changes? The Jaeger website suggests that their product can do that, but it isn't doing it currently.
My caravan is old so it only has 7 pin electrics and it has to be connected up with an adapter.
