How Low??.............. SoLow!

100% agree with @Tourershine and @ChrisR, I have run SoLows now for over 18 months on Banded Amaroks and had no issues at all. The ride is spot on and I carry some weight with full Caravelle floor rails, rear bench, two seats and three kids. I've drove it to Germany about 3 times and had it rammed with camping gear and a roof box and no problems.

I run it at its highest setting only due to where I work and the amount of speed bumps I have to go over.
How low are they at there highest setting? Heard nothing but good things about solow suspension

They're about 100mm at the highest setting, and all the good things you've heard are true.
Maybe one for me to consider in the future, i imagine so lows at their highest will be more comfortable than koni/hr at their lowest?

Just a note to anyone who has considered So Low suspension, but might be sceptical of the reviews, I have to add mine into the mix....

I was chatting with @Tourershine only a day or two after I had fitted them to my van and I said that they had "met my expectations", which basically meant I thought they were outstanding, because my expectations were very, very high from what I had read and discussed with other So Low owners. That was based on a few initial miles on the local roads.

After now putting several hundred miles on them I have to say that I'm growing to love them more and more. I've now taken in all the local pot hole ridden, scarred and torn up lanes around my village, well surfaced flowing B roads, a mix of A roads and plenty of motorway too.

The front end is very, very good, but the really big news for me is the rear end, they have surprised me with the amount of compliance and comfort at the rear of the van. My van is almost always empty during the week and being a T32 that can lead to it being a bit over sprung at the rear, but the So Lows are perfect. It's really interesting that someone like me, running an empty van, gives the exact same feedback as someone like @Tourershine whos van is always running a heavy load. They seem to be outstanding, regardless of what you're carrying.

It has to be said, we're not talking Rolls Royce, floating along on fluffy clouds levels of comfort, but for how far down they can take you, they are amazing. They ride better than many kits that don't go anywhere near as low as these do.

Combined with H&R anti roll bars they are just perfect for me, I can still do corners and roundabouts at speeds that you really shouldn't be able to in a van, they ride incredibly well, even more so when you think about how low they are, and there's the added bonus of course that the van looks the absolute ******

I only have 1 problem, I can't tow my caravan any more. With the previous setup I could adjust the ride height up far enough to be able to tow, not so with these. Perhaps that isn't actually a problem though......

Not quite. I was running the H&R coil over kit with Koni adjustable fronts before I fitted these, so I can offer a direct comparison. I was all the way down at the front with machined top mounts and running adjuster deletes at the back. The front end is very similar, which when you think about it is quite an achievement as these are 20mm lower at max height than those at their lowest. The rear end though, well, I'm going to say this very, very quietly.......... the rear end is better. :speechless:

It's worth remembering though, that because I was running adjuster deletes at the back, it was about 15-20mm lower than it is designed to go, which would probably account for the difference. We're not talking a massive amount, it was never enough to unsettle me, and still much better than the old B14s (which I ran in the past), similar to the B14 komforts (which I've test driven as a comparison) etc. I would say that without the additional drop of the rear adjuster deletes, they're probably about the same. That is some achievement for the So Lows though, they ride as well as some of the best coil over kits on the market, but at 100mm drop!

Thanks for the in depth comparison @ChrisR looks like I will have a difficult decision to make when I come to swapping out my suspension.

Good review, answers my question though as I needs to tow

Hi All, I've had a couple of enquiries about So Low since I made the previous posts, from people who are interested primarily in the comfort offered, but when discussing their requirements further it became clear that the big drops offered by So Low weren't what they were looking for.

If you want a moderate or sensible amount of lowering, these are not for you, check out the other options available in this thread, all of which are very comfortable options, but more suitable for anyone looking for moderate lowering from 35 - 70mm approx.

If you want to slam your van down really low and still be comfortable, then let's talk more about So Lows, but remember, they are a specialist product with minimum 100mm drop.

Cheers,

Chris.

Sure I read that 100mm is the max drop on the front and 80mm minimum? Is that not the case?

In my experience with this kit I've not seen a front drop as small as that, usually closer to 100mm. As with any coil over kit though, the actual drop varies depending on the weight of the van to which it's being fitted. If you use my van as an example, it's an empty T32 kombi and with the front at its max height I was approx. 95mm down. Adding the machined front top mounts and then winding down another 10mm got me to approx. 115mm down.

There isn't an advertised minimum drop that I've come across, but in any case, the advice remains the same, it's not a kit for those looking for moderate drops, it's for those looking for extreme lows.
