Hole size please

Is anyone able to kindly tell me the size of the holes in the tailgate aperture please (as per attached photos). My van's carpeted, and I would like to use these existing holes for fixing with expanding rubber fixings, but don't fancy chopping around carpet if can be avoided. I called into dealership today, but no luck - there wasn't a panel van/kombi in the showroom.

I used M4 well nuts to fix something using these holes. The rubber bit is 7.5mm when ‘relaxed’.

An FYI - often these holes are taped over before carpet lining. When light colour carpet is used, over time, dust can blow through leaving dark spots (so I’ve read).

A rubber well nut is going to give a good seal!
