Help with Lithium battery upgrade

I think the Renogy would be the better battery especially with size, but for an extra £25 (when the price reduction returns) the Eco-worthy is better value with an extra 40% capacity. I nearly ordered the Ecoworthy the day before Prime Day after watching it for a couple of weeks, but held on to see if it would go down even further on Prime Day. It didn't 🤣🤣🤣

And we're back...

Grey blob on the left is Swanage.
Back on topic and get as much battery as you dare but also as much solar as you can buy then again 2x300Ah and 500W of flexible solar would put you in the T6 Forum Hall of Legends upper chamber, basically harder than the Hulk. 🥸

I'm considering upgrading my battery in my Camper King Santorini to a 230Ah lithium. Called Camper King and they wanted £1000 to fit 🙄

Is this something I can do easily myself? The batteries are about £350.

... Or do any of you know a good company in central belt of Scotland?
Bet you wish you hadn't said anything now? :geek:

I’m about an hour and a half from you mate.
I bought all the big crimps and connectors heat shrink etc. for doing my upgrade. Think I’ve got spare fuse holders and wires there too.
If you get the much more knowledgeable guys on here to help you with what to buy and a how to wire it up I’m happy to spend a day helping you fit it all.
I can have a look to see what I’ve got spare when I’m home at the weekend.
That’d be awesome mate. I’ll get a good bit of knowledge and take you up on that one 👍 I’ll PM you when I can figure out what to get.

I've just ordered a Roamer 160. It's similar size to the existing AGM 105. I'll need to replace the cables to the CTEK 250, but will anything else need changed (move black wire on CTEK, 0v to 24v)? It'll run a fridge, diesel heater, LED lights and USB chargers.
Cheers

I still haven't looked at this properly due to a near £2k bill to have a new BCM etc... love my van 😬

I'm seriously considering this upgrade in the next month or two. Can anyone point me in the direction of what I actually need?

I currently have a Sargent EC 176 PSU and EC365 panel with the lead battery.

From what I can find, I need:

Battery
DC-DC charger?
New PSU?
wiring and things I can figure out I think...

Nothing 'downstream' needs to change, as it's the same 12V coming from the battery. Presumably your current lead acid battery has a DC-DC charger, so if it has a LiPo charging profile, you'll probably just need new cables and fuse/isolator.
I swapped mine out a few months ago - went for a Roamer Smart 144
They do an online session to check what you need and get it set up. Various safety features and built in app monitoring.

That's the one I'm looking at, Chris from Roamer just called me to go through what I'll need. I'm positive that my van has a B2B charger already, so I may want to upgrade to a Victron IP22 for mains charging.

How are you finding it? Was it easy enough job?

I’m still up for helping out mate.
I’ve got spare fuse holders, wire and all the big crimps, heat shrink and the crimp tool.
Just as long as you wait for this miserable weather the bugger off :geek:

Good man, I'll defo take you up on that. Are you saying only the 2 days of decent weather we get? lol
Need to get this bl**dy headlight issue sorted, I'm starting to hate the van again.

I’ve a few things to do to both vans but not had time lately and zero motivation in this weather.
It’s either been freezing or raining or both.
It’s constantly dark. Lights on in the house just about all day.
I hate winter these days

Wee update on my 'lithium journey' lol - I priced all the mods needed when using a Roamer144SMART5 (144Ah) battery. I've ended up just booking it in to the converter to install a 200Ah Renogy with all the gubbins. There was about £100 saving by doing it myself and thought this seems less hassle.
Cheers for all the support and @The Flying Scotsman for the offer to help me with it. You can help me on my next project if you want though? ;)

He looks happy... mind you this was last August when we visited while the rest of the UK was on fire so what day is Summer normally up there?
Thing is Scotland is a sunny destination these days.
Also Dundee is apparently the sunniest place in Scotland.
We had virtually no rain last year from mid March to mid September with the temperature rising above 30 degrees in the summer.
We did just have 2 months of rain, darkness and freezing temperatures start of the year though.
Was thoroughly depressing

Was at a site in Monifieth a few weeks back and it was pretty dry, although the high, cold coastal wind meant I never have exfoliate again!
