Help! Thermo Valve…..rarer than hen’s teeth!

Hi all - just had EGR replaced and now have coolant leak - happy days!

Thermo valve has a tiny crack in it but loosing coolant from max to min line even on short runs.

Anyone help on tracking one down? Euro, GSF, local motor factors no stock - genuine part only apparently and VW have no stock, its on back order and apparently could be weeks or even months according to the not very helpful local Heritage VW van centre.

If anyone could help I’d be hugely grateful

VW Swindon - useless - even VWUK couldn’t get hold of their parts department on my behalf even after 4 attempts but funnily enough you can get straight through on the sales line………
VW Bristol (ex Westbury) - nothing short of rude - its not every day you get tutted at by the receptionist for calling them back! The only upside of this is that it reminded me why dealerships on the whole are a complete waste of time and effort.

Hope nobody on here ever has to have to use either.

VWUK claim the part is in stock in Germany (there is not one to be found in the UK) and can be in UK in 5-7 days. VW van centres in Bristol and Swindon dispute this and said even IF they could get the part they wont send it out and I’d have to get the van to them (probably so they can try and upsell to other parts that may or may not need changing). How do you do this if the coolant is p**ssing out everywhere and they are over 30 mins each at least away from my home. My local independent garage however have been great today and think they’ve sorted a temp fix to try and keep me on the road in the interim.

Looks like I may have to chance it with the part from Slovakia but who knows how long that will take to arrive……..!

Amazing - spent a few hours googling yesterday and still didn’t see these people! Collecting van this morning so need to check garage haven’t ordered / found the part elsewhere but if not I’ll be ordering up! Thanks again!
