Headunit upgrade - will a Golf / Passat unit work?

I am looking into getting a 2016 3EB919605A for my 2018 T6. Issue I am having is that I can not figure out if it will fit. Obviously the seller is saying yes but I find it suspicious that the radio was dropped from production in 2016. So two years before my van was made. Also the unit is super thin. My current composition color does not look like this and I wonder if I can even remove the trim from it. Please take a look at the pics and let me know what you guys think. That looks like the front screen from a Mk7 Golf, B8 Passat etc. All the workings of that radio are in a unit in the glove box. The T6 radio is a conventional all in one unit. That screen is also bigger and a completely different shape.

I am not sure if it will fit or not. But I had a late 2015 T6 and the radio head unit was not like the one in the lower photo. But it was the same style as the one in your van.

Edit: @dubber36 confirmed, it wont fit and is no use anyway even if it would.

Categorically NO. That is from a Golf or Passat etc. It's just a screen that plugs to another unit usually in the glove box . This is how discover media is done now in the T6.1 but will not fit your van.

You need Composition or Discover Media unit.

Will try to source something else online but prices are crazy, even for used ones. The other option was going the aftermarket route. If I go with the Pioneer SPH-DA250DAB, do I loose the reversing sensors display? Seems reasonably priced but cant find any info on this...

Not if you buy the full retention loom.no buddy.
