Head unit powered by leisure battery?

I’m wanting to overhaul my standard system with a amp, rear speakers and upgraded fronts but first I want to sort the head unit.

I have a t6 with the standard head unit, I’m lead to believe that this can not be powered from my leisure battery, is this true as that’s the first thing I want to get sorted as I want to be able to use the system while parked up

thanks in advance

Absolut5 set me up with a switch, cables and phone assistance when I switched power supplies. I have a Kenyon 8109 head unit which can be switched from ignition source to off or leisure battery. Drop Absolut5 a pm and tell them what you want to do. If it is possible they will help you out.

Yea my understanding if it can be powered by leisure but the stock head unit will turn off after 20 mins unless the engine is running.

Maybe the switch set and wiring bypasses that? Ask Absolut5, they are top guys and know their onions.

Correct, this feature can be turned off if you’re using VW media control app but otherwise the head unit will turn itself off after 20 minutes. The reason @BoroBoy ,s works I’d it’s an aftermarket head unit.

Thanks everyone

looks like a new head unit may be the way to go

think I’ll get a list of everything I want then speak to absolute

I right I’m thinking this is absolutes web site and he should be able to supply me with a full set up?
Drop me a pm and il go through all the best options ..

also here -

Absolut5 fitted a switch for me so my Kenwood runs off the leisure battery, highly recommended.
