I’m thinking about re trimming the A pillars with faux alcsntara.

The thing that is puzzling me is what I would do with the speaker grills?
Any suggestions.

Ideally I would like to get a pillar build for mids and tweeters. But I can’t find a company anywhere that sells them. Not sure I fancy making my own but it may be the only option.

I've done mine (and head liner + tops of B pillars) with Harrison black stretch suede, was a relatively... straightforward job and makes quite a difference. I have the Alpine tweeters, but sprayed all the other plastics using Plasti-kote Premium Spray Paint Satin which has worked really well for a nice matt black finish, would easily do the job for the stock speaker grills until you get something else. This video is quite handy -

Thanks. Will watch that video. I’m going mid grey to match headlining. So it was more how to finish the stretch suede around them.

If you are using suede then you will be able remove the standard grilles, trim into the hole, and if you pull the material tight enough around the holes it does go quite thin. You then should be able to get the grilles back in the holes and then plastic weld / glue back in.

Otherwise just coat over the grilles. The material is thin enough not to have much of an impact on the sound.

I have seen stainless steel grilles on Ali express but have no idea what they are like.

Thanks. Just been watching this video (although he sands the plastics whereas the one linked above says not to o_O ):

I just removed the grills, stretched the material through the hole and trimmed it to fit, grills fitted back in fine. I know someone else that did as @Vedubber said and coated the whole pillar including the grills - looked great, but nicer if the grills are shown and colour matched IMO.

I didn't bother sanding, gave them a good scrub and used some rubbing alcohol on them to ensure the adhesive applied consistently.

Did you just iuse the standard High Temp spray adhesive available from Harrison's or MVM?

Cheers

When you suss it out Jon, let me know.

Looking to DIY the A/B pillars with Grey Anthracite etc.

Have not bothered so far as vids if seen before said it was not very stretchy.

Make sure you get the stretch stuff and work out what way it needs to be stretched before gluing it down.

Phone then up then .. numbers is above.

@BoroBoy is getting some stuff done with them via post.

Fyi

They on eBay as well.

I'm really tempted to get them to do my seatbelts rewebbing for me. But I think il send them in by post. Would need to buy a temp drivers belt in the meantime

I used audi black honeycomb headliner fabric from fabric uk.

Watched costal cushions youtube on how to prepare the A and B pillar trims. Went with his method. So far so good.
Fabric looks really good imo. Identical the A and B pillars in my previous rs3.

Painted the speaker grills matt black and sprayed with 1k satin lacquer. Newbie on painting so not sure if this right.

FYI, this fabric as next to no stretch even diagonally as suggested. Probably not the best first one to use but it was the only one a I liked. And my first attempt at trimming work.
