Hi from Liverpool, just back from Sweden in our T6 hightop. Next trip to Portugal and trying out a towbar mounted bike rack to save my aching back.

When the towbar is inserted the wheel on the side doesn't click completely into place, so I can't remove the key and lock in place. The key comes out fine when trying it out before inserting. I've followed a video online of how to attach it and the video towbar snaps in completely. Mine doesn't, it leaves a small gap and the key won't turn/release. Any ideas?

Check the receiver for any debris and then give it a spray of lube oil. A good shove should see it home

I always give it a bit of shove when fitting the bar , lock it in and then stand on it afterwards to make sure its home .

Success. Bit of WD40 and repetition and it locked OK. The key came out easy. I don't think the towbar has ever been inserted, it looks like it's never been used and we've had the van two years (van is 5yrs old). I don't think whatever springs out in the receiver had ever been liberated. Thank you and what a great intro to the forum. Cheers all.

There is a plastic bung you can buy which goes in the receiver when the towbar isn’t fitted. It will help prevent debris etc from getting into the receiver.
