Glow plug 2 fault

Can highly recommend QT VANWERKS in St Ives. Replaced our #2 & #3 glow plugs a few weeks ago

Thanks for recommendation TeeCeeJay , glow plug replaced this morning at Quattro Tech, Pboro (part of the group) £122 all in using OEM plug - no problems - they said it was one of the easy ones to get to.

Next problem.... Heater fan just started to only run on fast speed!! From what I've read on this great Forum I'm confident I can sort that one out myself

One thing that really showed up with having to do quite a few miles lately is the Regen frequency. During my usual low milage and occasional long runs it Regens at around 200 miles. With doing regular longer dual carriageway runs that changed to over 300 miles. That really highlights how much more soot is generated with short distance running doesn't it.

I've just done my fan blower resistor pack for the second time on the 2018 van.

A git of a job due to the limited space and carpet in the cab... But definitely a diy job with some patients.

Thanks for these pictures. I was just wondering, do you run your heater fan mostly on the slowest speed? I have been and assume that's the one that would create most heat build up through the resistor unit. Obviously crap design on how many seem to fail and surprised it hasn't been engineered out by now (when buying a replacement unit). Bit like the old dim/dip running headlights manufactures used to use. One would have thought they would have learnt the lesson then, wouldn't one!

Yes I 99.5% of the time just leave it on #1.

And yes that burns off most heat in the resistor pack.

The thermal fuse is a safety feature and id consider the unit a serviceable part, once every 3 years in my case.... And I'm fine with that.

There was a period a while ago where some Vauxhalls were catching aligh and burning to the ground because of a faulty fan blower pack !!!.... So that fuse is a very important part.

It’s a quick and very cheap job to replace the thermal fuse repairing the resistor unit. If I’m away travelling for months the three van spares I pack are wing mirror pivot, aux’ belt and spare fan resistor unit.

With my old car i used to take a fuel pump and a coil pack on holiday with me , everything else was pretty bomb proof .....drove to Cornwall and power steering pipe burst .

Replaced it today....... I'm 67 - didn't know my body could still bend in places like that!

I’m 69 and did mine last year.
Don’t think I’m completely recovered yet….
