Getting to know van

Hi everyone have washed and polished van ! Couple of questions.there is a wire hanging next to rear view mirror what's that for? And how do I tell how much add blue is in tank ?

The MFD in the dash will tell you the remaining miles left for adblue. And the topup amount reqd.

I have a startline without the MFD and have to press the time setting button to see the adblue miles left - I think three clicks and it goes to adblue numbers.

Dangling wire could be a dash cam hard wire kit. A picture might help. If it is you probably have a piggyback fuse in the fusebox below the gearstick.

Wire will be for a previous owners dash cam I would bet.

Hiya i have the same wire, its so you can attach a dash cam, the previous owner had one fitted.

In theory, yes. You just need to find out if that is wired to ignition live or straight to the battery (or maybe a leisure battery).

looks like a mini USB, most prob for dashcam.

Next question how much is a service probably won't take it to main dealer.

Might be worth comparing your price with main dealer they will give you a fixed price for a service and use any genuine parts needed

Thanks for that I don't have a main dealer near me nearest about 14 miles have got garage nearby where owner drives transporter. Also I used to use a renault main dealer they seemed to think I wanted car back in new condition ! every time I had car serviced.

Mine booked for service friday @ VW £175 + vat for an oil change and a prod and poke

I’ll be looking for an indy when the warranty is up (I know I could go indy now but not worth the hassle if there is a warranty issue.

In some respects I wish I’d gone variable (bi annual) and simply did an interim oil change!
