Forum censorship

Recently I’ve tried to use the word “p***k” in a couple of posts & the forum has automatically changed it to p***k, so I had to resort to using “pr!ck” to get around the bot. All well and good, but in other posts the forum allowed “buggered” and I noticed that another member (now now @JOG, you’re supposed to be resting) managed to get “wank” past the filter. Is the forum discriminating against pr!cks?

Out of interest, when writing this did you censor yourself or was that done for you?

Same with b*****d

All very silly and unnecessary IMO - we're all adults and we've all heard/used much worse.

Is it only me that is such a child that I now have a nearly overpowering urge to list as many words as possible to see which will be censored? :think smile bounce:

Already done it! :fast rofl:

This was the result of a genuine piece of work at different points over a decade when I worked in broadcasting. I have used it since for the basis of corporate email swear filters...

NSFW..... Scroll down or go back. The forum doesn't have a 'reveal spoiler' type feature for this sort of thing. Mods, remove if too sweary...

Genuine too, no an attempt to offend or circumvent the forum's filter.

I hope it doesn't give @JOG palpitations given his current condition... ...

Obviously the censorship board, or whoever the decision makers are, must be a lot more tolerant nowadays. I’m surprised to hear some of those words in the middle of the afternoon on Radio 4 but perhaps I’m just a crusty old timer from another era.

I used to work for a multi-national who introduced email filtering. The setup used to screen the mails and quarantine the “naughty” ones. The irony was that the system would auto generate an email explaining that an email had been quarantined and proceed to list all the naughty words that upset it!

Anyone who stepped on my toes had better be careful and lock their machine or their email signature would be edited to include a naughty word using white font on white background! (Simple but effective and the knuckle draggers in IT were baffled at that one!)

Woke-ism gone mad!
