Interestinly I dont have a leaky side window, I have a rattly one. Going in...get this...for TWO days. And the service lady took great delight in telling me if it isnt the window / warranty issue; I may get a bill of 102 quid. Glad I had a rear seat passenger holding the window to prove it. Bit of a shocker two days. I am going to note the mileage cost I dont want them joy riding in it.
:mad:Glad the tyres arent flat they would want it 5 days.1 to diagnose and 1 per corner to pump each one up.

Ha! Brilliant! German efficiency right there.

Mine is in on Monday for a leak past the tailgate rubber seal....they've booked it for the week!

Mine was in also today to have the tailgate strike plate replaced under warranty. They asked me to drop it off last night so they could make an early start on it. I have "we connect" and I have been checking it all day on my phone, the van was locked and not one door was opened until about 4.15pm when they rang me and said it was been worked on but was taking longer than expected and could I leave it another day (the van was still locked). I said no and that I needed it, within 5 minutes the van was unlocked and drivers window down, 5 minutes later the tailgate was open. I collected the van at 5.45pm.

Sadly, I suspect that’s a lot more common than some might think

Interesting! Mine does exactly the same... but my window also leaks, so it's currently booked in for the window to be replaced anyway! Be interesting to know what they do to solve your rattle?

@JOG My window has been replaced by VW under warranty and seems to have stopped leaking…but the rattle is still there, so I actually think it’s the door not the window!

Hi just to update you all, I took the van in for two days last week. By the evening of the second day I had been told there is a definite rattle, but they needed more time to discount a long list of "hand written" items. Those being all my mods. I said well I can tell you without investigating that the wheels and suspension; rear bumper protector, roof bars, side bars, grilles and side repeaters dont make the window rattle so that shortens the list a hell of a lot. They did not like my tone so I just said youve had it long enough so I walked to the van centre and took it back. The service guy did say they had narrowed it to an area at the top of the door. Gee Whizz it took 2 days. They also said they found the n/s rear door handle inside, didnt work the door. So they wanted to book it in for a week end of July.
I went home and began to question my work, stripped the headlining out and double checked none of my additional cables were rattling. All was good. I took the sliding door trim off n/s and found the plug off the switch. Not caused by my sound deadenning or insulation. Fixed that.....15 mins tops.
Back to the O/S window rattle, after 1/2 hour I had fixed that too, it was a slight maladjustment of the top bracket. I pulled the door in 1mm at the top on the adjustment and also tweaked the striker at the top to suit....hey presto....no rattle. I should charge VW a weeks labour!
I don't think mechanics these days are able to problem solve for themselves...if the vcds doesnt tell them the problem they are generally lost for ideas. They should be made to own a 1970's ford RS of some description you get to know whats wrong and be able to fix them, often on the side of the road in the dark.

If only you could plug VCDS into the window!:fast rofl:If there isn't tech available to do/solve something we scratch our heads....just like the old days!
