Extended Warranty Question

My 2023 T6.1 “van with windows” campervan conversion is 3 years old in March, and I realise that the VW warranty expires at that point. So I’m thinking I will get extended warranty cover. When I looked at the VW extended warranty on-line site, one of the first things I’m asked to do is confirm that my van isn’t modified at all.
Clearly my van is modified. It has a pop top, split charge alternator, holes in panels for EHU & water, water tank, different seats, and modified electrics. Its also got a towbar, a Fiamma awning and chrome sidebars. There are no mods to suspension, engine (other than the alternator), brakes, steering, etc.

Has anyone got any experience of VW extended warranty cover for post-market camper van conversions?
Will I be able to get a VW warranty?
Or should I look at a non-VW extended warranty? (And which is better?)

Any advice folks?

I was in the same boat a couple of weeks ago and went for VW's All-in Plan. I wasn't asked anything along the lines of modification.

Ah - now I’ve just found your thread on this Bav. (Why couldn’t I find it when I searched for warranty questions earlier???)
Interesting.
From what I understand, you bought your extended warranty on-line when prompted by a VW email. Is that correct?
Maybe I’ll get an email - or maybe not as it wasn’t me that bought the van from new.
Perhaps when I take the van for service (just before the 3 years is up) I can ask in the VW dealer.
I’d hate to buy a warranty - and then be told that I can’t have warranty work done as the van is modified!

Yeah, factory warranty expired 26 Jan and I received the email from VWCV Warranty on 14 Jan - so a little under 2 weeks' notice.

You do right to assess your options earlier - I'm prone to over analyse things and 2 weeks didn't really seem long enough to make a considered decision.

TBF, it never even crossed my mind that the warranty may be invalidated by the conversion. My van was delivered by the supplying dealer directly to the converter, so it's never been on the road unmodified.
