First summer road trip to Europe - any recommendations?

Hello all…
Very much looking forward to going on our first van based road trip to Europe this summer.
Van is not a camper conversion so looking for any accommodation/hotel/air b and b recommendations for our planned journey from Calais through France and then onto our final destination the lakes of Italy via Switzerland.
Any recommendations would be very much welcomed along with any other things to consider/think about would help as well.
Driven through Europe many times before, first time in the van, cannot wait!

Every site we went to had either a caravan, chalet or tent of some description. Anncey is a must imo. Amazing place and on the way to Italy.

I’ve stayed in my van at this Swiss site, they also have a yurt and a wooden cottage.
Very informal and relaxed, good public transport links and you won’t find a better view.

We stayed two nights in Dijon on the way back from the alps.

We really liked Dijon and stayed in an old monastery which was good and a short walk into the centre:
