Factory media unit unresponsive

Does anybody know how to do a hard reset on the factory media unit. It has a mind of its own - both the touch screen and facia switches are non responsive. I’ve tried the 10 second on/off reset.

thats hold the ON/OFF unbtill the unit reboots and you see the boot screen. ( way longer than 10sec normally.)

Failure of the digitiser is also a known common fault, if it is that folks have traced the part for DIY repair

OEM Headunit Problems [Merge]

Today the discover media system rebooted 3 or 4 times within about 20 mins of driving. At the time the nav was displaying and sd card music playing. Thought it might have been a corrupt music file but I couldn't repeat the problem so ruled that out and It hasn't done it again?? Anyone...
