Stayed here a couple of years ago just after it opened and it is excellent. This award doesn't surprise me.
Great for Melton Mowbray but this is geared totally for fishermen.

I went a few weeks ago, it is a lovely place, yes it has some people who fish but also lots of others. Great place to just go n chill.

We last called in there about 6 years ago as a potential local campsite (my sister had a pub on the Stamford side of Melton which we used to visit most weekends) but were disappointed at what was on offer (very much geared towards fishermen and facilities not that good) - given the recent reviews and investment we should probably give it another chance.

Let me expand... When I said geared for fishermen I meant there are fishing ponds on-site and most people there spend time fishing. I didn't see any other restrictions. The toilets and showers had heated floors, the shop was excellent, the bar and restaurant was superb... I need to go back now.
Any cyclists wanna do a ride weekend? Fr here or anywhere else. But this place is excellent. Still recommend it.
