Ex AA Van Split Charging

Hi All,

I've just bought my first T6, it's an ex AA Van that used to have a secondary battery under the double seat.
Does anybody know if the split comes from the starter battery or the alternator?
I'm thinking it could potentially be used for a leisure battery? But wouldn't want to run both the leisure and starter battery flat at the same time.
Also, if anybody else has the same setup, do you know the rating of the Maxi Fuse for the split charger? Mine has been removed

from the starter battery...

post a few pics and well see what we can see.

What you have there is the OEM factory leisure battery setup.

It's frs from the SA main fuse box under the starter battery.

Via that 100A really, to the missing 50A odd fuse to the battery...

The battery is missing for some reason.?

.

More info

Ah ok. So from reading what you put, the OEM setup isn't ideal!
I shouldn't be plugging a fridge in when camping as by the time we leave the van won't start! 😅

Thanks for all the info.
I'm very new to the Transporter world. Having picked one up with a leaking crank seal I'm a little nervous!

If you get an AGM battery and fuse for under the seat..... Then yet you can run your fridge from that.

Then when you get some more money look at fitting a dcdc charger and swapping that battery out for a lithium.

That's basically what I done in the thread linked above.
