I wish I had version description documents but nothing in black and white - unfortunately. For T6 (EU6) there were two main waves of updates. The latest and greatest should iron out pretty much all the wrinkles that have caused a lot of frustration and discussion also around our Forum. I'm anticipating that P20EE and P204F will finally become extinct.
So I took my van to VW Croydon on Monday following an EML. Carista showed P0401 fault when I scanned it - its a 102 18 plate PV with 49K on the clock. They looked at the van and diagnosed P20EE fault but software is shown as being up to date (I guess the current software does not eliminate all P20EE faults). The notes sent to me show they intend to do an EGR flush, Regen and change glow plug 3 as per "TPi repair" whatever a TPi repair is. I've collected the van today as they still have not got the approval to do this work on the extended warranty after 2 1/2 days. Apparently they load the warranty request on the computer and wait for somebody in VW to authorize it, hopeless system if it takes this long. I've told them to call me when it finally comes through. Interestingly I have just scanned with Carista again and now I am getting both P0401 and P20EE faults - just need P204F to have the set!!

If the van is sat there the garage should be chasing vw warranty for approval. They seem oblivious to the fact some people may have to rely on these piles of junk to earn a living.
I like many have experienced these issues. My van was in 6 times for a total of 52 days back in 2020 due to the P20EE code. I never had the P0401 code. VW will do a step by step process to basically get away with what they can with this issue. I had a new NOx sensor, inlet manifold and then the final cure seemed (touch wood) to be the no.3 glow plug chamber clean out (pressure sensor located there). twice It went in and they didn’t have a clue and tried to blame by driving style and dpf’s approaching regen level. Although they soon shut up when you tell them you have had no issues with your previous three vehicles and 300k miles without any dpf issues.
So spent the last few hours reading all these issues with P20EE codes and I now feel proper stressed, only had the van 5 weeks and done 300 miles in it and got the dreaded light today
Is there a way I can check my software version? I haven't got access to VCDS readily and a garage used a scanner to get the code today and then cleared it,
Its a mapped 150, I'm going up to Dav Tec soon to get my Ghost removed so maybe could ask him to run a scan for me but just wandering if there is any other way?
I was hoping my next spends were on the audio not this

I read about issue with adblue, because in beautiful day appear alarm on the dash board 'you can drive only 650miles' adblue fault. When I back home and speak with friends, I manage to borrow a code reader to scan system, result appear code P20EE.
Before visit was set-up at the Volkswagen center( please keep in mind after warranty). I read about the issue. My hope was to go authorized service pay for update and be happy again.
Now saga started, They keep van for two days at the garage because they can't reset alarm after software update. I take van from the garage and start to understand potential fault without paying fortune for repair. To be fair they advised me that they sent email to technical 'guru' and awaiting for response.
Today i received response back with advise to replace NOx sensor (£812) , BUT this is FIRST step and they are not sure if the problem will be resolved. They mention something about No.3 glow plug(I need to read about this).

So the van is at a VW garage? My van went through various “steps” whilst under warranty investigation. This is a known common issue and they I feel just go step by step until they hope it will go away before the next step.
Id take it up with VW UK even if the vehicle is out of warranty for some good will! This could cost you thousands at a VW dealer. If no joy with VW find a trustworthy indie or just a garage you trust. VW and the dealer acknowledges my ongoing issue and I got a £200 voucher from vw and 12 months extended warranty from the dealer because I had no confidence in the vehicle and the problem returning.
I've had the software updates, NOx sensor changed, inlet manifold changed then glow plug/sensor no.3 chamber cleaned. I am now two years and around 18000 miles free of an engine light coming up. However I do regularly check and I still get pending P20EE codes come up. I feel it will return one day. This is the most problematic vehicle I’ve ever owned. I’m the perfect diesel driver considering travel distance and conditions etc.
What do you want to achieve with VCDS? if it’s just to clear and read codes get Carista.

search the forum you will be able to find the software version number you require. How old is the van? Did you buy from a VW dealer? Anyway it’s probably an ongoing issue and they have just cleared the code.

My impression, they still don't know what the problem is.
To be honest I purchased the van with high mileage and faulty engine: -( . Engine was replaced and three months later........ADBLUE.

They are not even proving the sensor is faulty. They just change things to see if it fixes it. An ex VW guy told me that VW don’t know what the problem is. They’ve had theories including the plating coming off the egr coolers causing premature wear and the engines to then run dirty.
I’d look at testing the sensor yourself or even just taking out and cleaning it. I’d clear the fault and only put quality fuel in and then dump a load of cleaning additive in it and see if that helps. What I also found once that the fault cleared itself after a few hundred miles. I also drive mine harder now as well.
I got the software version, it was the original one, it went in last week funnily enough and they said although on original 2016 software and getting P20EE fault it doesn't need an update and it isn't part of any recall!

Yesterday I look at internet and I found on Allegro brand new OEM sensor for £280, I was look further and I found a complete adblue tank for less than £100.
I was surprised how many tanks are on sale there, hm....
Now, I need to became Brexit - logistics expert and send parts across here.
Hopefully I will be able to replace sensor between Christmas and New Year and VCDS will do the job.

I managed to sent sensor across channel and unit is replaced. Now, after ECU scan alarm Nox sensor disappear, unfortunately message on the dash board still display 250miles . I try to utilise VDCS version 22.10 to reset , but I can't find this function(there films on you tube, but I can't see long adaptation window). I wonder if you can help me.
