Electrics gone bananas after cambelt and water pump change

Just got my 2017 t6 back after MOT, service , cambelt and water pump change. The garage dod the MOT yesterday and it passed no problem, after the service and cambelt change the brake lights wouldn't go off. They say they have checked and didn't damage anything. Nothing shows on diagnostics. They un plugged the tow bar module and the brake light are OK, BUT!!! The indicator relay blinks double speed but the indicator lights are normal, the rear fog lamp doesn't work and a lamp out bulb appears on the dash and the reverse sensors are disabled!!!! If I reconnect the tow bar module it now seems to stay as is with all the faults!!!

Depending what towbar system was fitted that behaviour sounds reasonable if you unplug it as that’s all the things the towbar module controls
Do you have any kind of scan tool ?
If it were me I would make sure the battery is not low by charging it or taking it for a drive then get everything reconnected and do a fault scan and clear all fault codes and scan again to see what returns, then you will know what actual errors, if any, you have and can get a bit of direction if needs be on troubleshooting them

I only have an OBD reader but will see what it comes up with.
Just back from a week in Pembrokeshire so the battery should be the best charged it has been for a while.
JE James kit installed by them about 2019. No problems with it today and I haven't plugged anything in for about a year as mainly used for bike carrier.
I will see what comes up on the OBD.

Cheers

Used V/A OBD2 Reader. No fault codes on OBD but 2 fault codes which keep coming back on the V/A;
19-can gateway 01517 no towing recognition control module
76- Park assist, U0111100 function limited due to missing message.
It's the JE James 7 pin setup with westfaila removable hitch.

Light board plugged in the dash error bulb dissappear, indicators relay flashes correctly, reverse sensor shows trailer connected image on screen but without the park assist warning message. Rear fog still not working but this shouldn't when trailer plugged in I believe? So it seems to be OK when trailer attached 🤔

Sounds like its all trailer related then, perhaps thinking a trailer is always connected ?

I not sure whether it's the module or wiring. PF Jones have a wiring diagramme on line so I suppose it's trace this back nd try and see if any issues. Otherwise any ideas on testing the module?

No idea, not sure if you even can ?

If you google TM005 trailer module there is quite a bit of info out there
I guess you could look at the pinouts and go over the basics like checking for power etc

Cheers. Replacement set from James is £150 ish, suppose if I get this I should have all the replacement parts I could need. I will do some wiring checks first then decide from there.

Conwys AG also have all the installation instructions specific to each vehicle.
It looks like the Conwys module you have is recognised by the BCM module so doing all the right things.
You should be able to "see" it on a scan, and may show fault codes.

Maybe also check and clean the trailer connector plug at the back - On other threads it seems that if they get muck in them it can cause strange issues.

I am thinking your issue is just a coincidence that it happened when you had the cam belt done, but happy to be proven wrong

Took rear tow socket apart and checked the connector under the passenger seat. Now have rear fog light but still no parking assist, though sometimes it works for a few seconds before deciding it's disabled. Warning light out bulb has also disappeared. Silly me looked at all the areas before trying ignition each time so not sure which action may have helped!

Parking assist issue may have been created with the cam belt change if they removed stuff on the front of the van and upset the front parking sensors in the process.
Maybe check the front parking sensor connections

No front parking sensors, so rear only which is explained by the tow bar issue. I am going to check 2 potential pinch points of wiring loom with under trays and possibly front passenger side jacking point. After that it will be potentially spending some money to try new parts. 🤔😲

Do the front fogs work? It could be they have just failed to reconnect the plug behind the driver's side of the front bumper if they removed the bumper.

Front fine was just the rear. Fiddling has brought some function back. Just rear parking sensors still not working. Won't have time to fiddle again until the weekend 😄
