Electric tailgate by remote

My T6 has got electric sliding doors and powered tailgate but only the side doors can be opened and closed via the remote keyfob. There is a button on the side of the remote which looks like it should do the tailgate but it does nothing. Is this normal?IMG_4850.JPG

Hi Rob mine has power latching tailgate and with all doors locked - push tailgate on remote and it will unlock but there is no noise so you physically have to open it to know it's unlocked ,when you shut it it will lock again.

I was told that you could open it with the key - by a long press on the key button . If you've got to manually open it makes no difference !!!

That is much better ... so it did not work before then or were you just not holding it in enough to start it working ?

I'm not sure. I think it must be the proximity sensors being over sensitive on the sides rather than the back. When it parked next vehicles at the sides it just flashes the indicators and won't release the hatch.

@Rob Bates. Bet your daughter programmes the satellite, video etc too :D. Mind, at 10 she's older than the average child domestic electronics guru so she has moved on to vehicles, ;) so don't let her near a VCDS  :whistle::whistle:.

@DaveBos, oh dear now I feel ancient  damned by the ignorance of youth  Guess you don't know about music cassette tapes and Walkmans then :(. However, at least vinyl LPs are making a comeback :D. Plus ca change !

That's 10 year olds for you. Can't pick their dirty washing up off the floor, or bring get their empty packed lunch box out of the school bag and bring it to the kitchen when they get in - but solving the perplexing electrical equipment - piece of piss!
Has anyone thought of asking a 10 year old to solve the coding riddle that is the power fold mirrors on locking for the euro 6/ module Q? Bet they'd have it done in ten seconds flat.;)

Never a truer word spoke that man.

I can now CONFIRM that a long press on the KeyFob side button does indeed operate the tailgate.

My dealer told me that the button only unlocked the tailgate.

I had no patience holding the button but my missus sussed it out.

Happy Days!

Their should also be an open button on the drivers door- at the back of the lower compartment, tucked up in the far corner.

Unless VW are doing more cost cutting and not fitting them?
