Hey folks! Hope you can share your wisdom with me.
So, shortly after owning a 2017 T6 California 2.0 TDI 150 CXFA with around 120k of mileage, the dreaded but expected around this time EGR issues started to show.
I got the engine check light on when the ignition is on, and got from obd11 the following error:
P046C00 - EGR Sensor "A" Circuit Range/Performance
Quick chatgpt inquiry tells me it is most likely an issue with the EGR valve being stuck or something around. Most likely, the whole EGR system, valve, coolers, pipes, is caked with carbon.
I think my best plan of action is to replace the whole thing with a new unit (maybe I will try to clean/refurbish the old ones also, and maybe in a few years when the same thing happens, I can use it to replace).
Before anything, I will perform a long drive soon, and see if that helps clearing something.
My main worries/doubts/questions right now about the whole procedure are:
1 - There will be some coolant loss when doing the swap. What should be done after the new unit is installed? A purge and full bleed procedure, or just topping up and keep an eye?
2 - I will have to unplug a few vacuum lines in the way to gain access, and after I will plug them back in, of course. Is that ok, or is there some procedure?
3 - The OE part number I found is 04L131512CF - is this correct? I am thinking the best I can do is to buy a new OE unit, or are there other reliable+cheaper 3rd party options you would recommend?
4 - I will replace the following parts: exhaust and inhaust (=D intake) flexi pipes and washers+screws and whole egr unit assembly. Anything else I should replace while I'm there, like sensors and pipes?
Besides that, I appreciate any advice you can give me for this endeavour. It will be the biggest car thing I ever done, if I indeed go forward with it.
