EGR and Adblue delete

I had an egr delete done and approx 6 months later I began to have a range of adblue sensor faults and the dreaded countdown. I ended up deleting the DPF along with adblue. I am considering putting the dpf back in place without the egr for engine longevity and better running. I would have also put the adblue back, but it may be shot. I read adblue cant cope with additional nox, hence the errors?

Anybody else successfully running an egr delete while keeping dpf and adblue or egr/adblue delete with dpf in place?

I have egr delete with DPF and Ad Blue still in place. Been like that for 27 months and well over 20k miles with no issues.

I actually have a serious query as I’m considering getting my T28 done but just don’t know what to remove and what to leave.

If you do plenty of long journeys then just get the egr coded out. My DPF regens haven't changed in over 2 years since my EGR went away.

Good to know. I do 100 miles a day when I use it, all dual carriageway to and from work. Usually rumbling along at 60 at just over 2k rpm. That keep the DPF clear you reckon?

It does for me. We use ours for road trips into Europe, so I do big miles but I bimble at 60mph below 2k revs for 4000 mlies or more.
At home I use it for mountain biking and its generally getting well revved over the hills and stuff. It does very little round town driving.

Sounds like fairly similar driving to me. Mainly long journeys held at sensible revs for extended periods of time. Barely ever use it to “pop into town”. Good to know, thanks for your help.

My EML light came on recently after getting successive P0401 EGR fault codes. Had already replaced the pipe on EGR but not the cooler. Local indie advised blocking off the EGR and coding it out and leaving AdBlue & DPF in-place. It's currently in getting that done & sounds similar to your issues. So will let you know how mine goes.

I have the CXEC engine and looking to get a stage 1 on engine and gearbox, was also thinking remove the swirl flaps and map out the EGR and ma fit an oil catch can. How you you pass a not with the EGR out or does it still pass?

The egr physically remains in place, it's just an ecu map that codes it out. There's nothing visible to an MOT tester. Until they change the testing method you'll be fine. I've just passed my third MOT since it was coded out.

I spoke to Darkside developments and they said that they’ll have to map out the EGR valve and the DPF at the same time as they’re connected. I can’t see how this is possible as there doing different things but they are both doing emissions based so maybe that’s why they’re together For obvious reasons. I don’t want to remove my DPF what van engine and age do you have?

Darkside believe the without the EGR putting some of the dirty gasses back through the engine that the DPF will get clogged which will be a problem obviously. Mine has been done for over 2 years and it still regens as normal. Just done a Scotland road trip and it was doing a regen about every 300 miles. I have a 204 biturbo with 146k on the clock and the original dpf.
It certainly won't like lots of short journeys with the egr coded out, but mine mainly does decent runs.
Speak to Dav-Tec.

Hey thanks for this, I can’t see any reason why blocking off the EGR valve will have any issue on the DPF. I drive the van like it’s meant to be driven with a twin turbo diesel. Ideally I’d like to block out the EGR valve put in an oil catch can and then clean out the turbos intercooler and all the pipework including the intake manifold. This will increase performance and fuel consumption.

Do you know anywhere that I can get dealership instruction manual from?

There must be some connection between EGR blanking & mapping out & the DPF. My EGR was blanked & mapped out a few weeks back. Prior to this the DPF would regen approx. every 200 miles. Now it's regening approx. every 110 miles. So that's going to have an effect on life of DPF.

(Adblu also mapped out at same time).

All the workshop manual stuff is available to you on here in the downloads section as you have VIP membership.

I’ve looked for the workshop manual for removing my engine and getting to the intake manifold, but I can’t find it on here and I am a VIP member

As I in see it that’s going to hit your fuel economy too and increase the risk of diesel wash past the o rings into the oil.
Maybe someone more clever can tell me I’m wrong?

Does diesel wash happen when a regen is stopped by turning off the van before the regen completes?

Ok. I’ve not looked myself, but there are a few good threads on here about removing the inlet manifold and the special bolt on the hpfp. It’s certainly not an engine out job, it’s a front off (or service position).
