Eeek

Afternoon all.

Does this look intentional?

Best way to sort?

Bloody fuming

Ouch...... That's well deep.

Defo a paint job that ..... You could use a colour coded touch up pen as a quick fix to protect the bodywork from damp and salt.

Until you get the paint work done.

Some mobile paint people might take that on, as a spot repair versus painting the whole panel.

Ie dent magic mobile paint work repairs?

And should my camera in parking mode not have alerted? Maybe
Depends on the impact. And what mode your camera was in regards sensitivity or motion mode. It looks like maybe a chip-a-way type of company could deal with it. Sorry you have suffered someone’s carelessness.

Here's a local chap I've used. He did an invisible repair to a wheel on the Volvo that the local tyre chimps damaged.

Obviously not a lot of use to the OP but thats the sort of thing he needs.

Just chuck "SMART paint repairers liverpool" into Google.

Folks reckon that’s someone wing mirror or more sinister? Given height. And the fact my folded mirror and handle etc not touched

It doesnt look like vandalism, too straight and regular. Something travelling past has nickede against that with some force, but without some evidence thats just speculation.

That's a pricy quote, but im no expert and being metallic an in an odd position they may want to go out to the nearest contours. You can't paint the whole door as it wont match, and blowing over the whole side of the van and blending it properly will be very spendy indeed.

That’s ‘smart repair’. Have requested another quote from another company

Kind of looks door scrape to me. Starts shallow goes deeper then get shallow again. Kind of suggest something travelling in an arc and it’s quite a straight line. So doubtful it was a human hand.

Second quote 300….:(
That sounds about right. It’s a skilled job and a good few hours to do properly. And a lot cheaper than having the whole door blown in at a body shop. I’m sure someone will pipe up with the well my mate etc etc but the old cheap fast good rule always applies to this sort of work. Cheap and fast won’t be good, fast and good won’t be cheap, good and cheap won’t be fast. None of this is of much comfort to you I’m sure.

I’d agree. That’s a deep scratch and anyone worth their salt isn’t getting out of bed for less than £100.

I’ve done a pretty decent job myself in the past with touch up pens on stone chips. As long as you flatten them out and polish them properly they can disappear. But the last time I did it it took me the best part of 5 hours for 2 stone chips…

You can’t have owt nice these days.

It does seem odd they can invisibly repair similar sized gouges on a metallic painted alloy for a third of the price, but not being an expert in such matters I can only defer to their expertise.
