Doors Freezing Up !

Anyone had this before?

Been in the Alps for a couple of weeks and the doors keep freezing shut, especially the side doors.

Spoke to some local T6 owners and they don’t suffer with this..

Van is parked outside but it’s only dropping to -8’c

smear a light coating of Vaseline on them, that will sort it.

Doesn't the petroleum jelly ( Vaseline ) attack rubber hence not advised for this. That's what I was informed 45+ years ago. A silicone oil/grease might be better?

Ddo they do that at VW service in these colder countries?

None of the local vans seem to suffer with it

I have used a silicon spray for this in the past.

the best option is a rubber conditioner...any of the above will work in the mean time.

Millers Oils MILLERSIL NO. 2 Silicone High Temp Grease
I have 500g of this, it will outlast me, use sparingly.
Opie oils have consistently good prices on lubes.

I’ve just returned after a month in the Alps & had the doors stick a couple of times. I think it’s condensation related from us sleeping inside & the condensation forming on exposed metal areas. I’ve always avoided silicone on the bodywork if possible, it causes problems if you need to have paintwork done.
