Dog / Baby Gate Vw T6 Side Door..

Wondered if any of you have already come up with something for this. I have a Yorkshire terrier I’m trying to keep in the van with the side door open. Not a full cage or anything just a half baby gate kind of thing. He is normally on a spike outside but he’s a typical terrier and he wants to kill every dog he sees, despite a fortune in training and socialising, so it’s only for when I’m cooking inside so a temporary kind of thing. As ventilation with the cooker means you need the door open. Didn’t really want to clip him on his seatbelt clip so he has no freedom but that’s my only option so far.

Looking forward to hearing your ingenious solutions. Family members suggested slipping him a sleeping pill at meal times or to buy a new dog, that’s the kind of helpful advice I get from them. bunch of jokers.

I agree with your family, I think we'd get on quite well.
Sticking him on a spike seems a little harsh, but i'd love to stick my mother in laws ratty little dog on a spike sometimes/all the time....

I do have a dog by the way, but she's just well behaved, and no spikes needed.... yet.

In my defense allergies limit me to rats on stilts. Love the little bugger and everything but I’d love to have a proper dog again but as he is the main reason I now have my T6 I can’t be too upset.

Typical rat on a rope then, out sheltie is as bad so we keep him out of the way so he can't pick fights. Not sure if flight line cages do anything of use like you want.

Is this a small dog complex thing? My in-laws thing goes nuts at other dogs, like it's going to rip them apart. It drives me and anyone else near us when we are away, nuts. I have a lab, and she just opens her eyes long enough to see what the fuss is about, then goes back to sleep without as much as yawn.

We only take our dog when we stay in the UK, which isn't very often anymore because she hates being driven in the Motorhome, and 90% of our camping is in Europe.

Baby-dan do a removable type of gate that might be able to adapt to suit your needs, the fixing point is designed to be screwed to a wall but you could adapt this to suit B/C pillar? As they are only thin plastic strips.
The short extension parts could edge the side step with the hinge gate in the center?.

I think it definitely is a pot luck thing with small dogs mum had two with absolutely no issues. However my boy got kicked out of puppy socialising class for biting two dogs in 5 minutes. Found another one to be asked not to come back to that one either. However weirdly enough he’s a Pets as Therapy dog he passed all his tests for children and the elderly so he goes to hospitals, schools and old people’s homes for some respite for patients. He’s just odd so he matches me well.

Welcome to the forum Angela . you can get a stair gate for stopping little ones going up the stairs which open out to whatever size of the gap
and then you lock in place that may help you could put a mesh on it to stop him getting through .
