Does anyone have access to radio codes?

I'm about to swap the radio from one Phaeton to another, but am pretty sure I'll need a code. I'm sure the dealers used to be able to get them using the VIN and serial number, but I suspect they either are too young to know what a radio code is, or will want a stupid amount of money.

Can anyone help please?

Modern radios are coded to the car with OEM software.

The old radio needs to be programmed as remove from one car. Before being added to a different one....

Not done it myself, and not sure what software is needed?

@Dav-Tec may be able to offer more accurate advise?

There are online places like on your page 2, but they charge for it. The dealers have access, but they charge too, even tho' it costs them nothing. I was hoping to find someone on the inside because I'm tight.

You’re right, dealers can still get the code, but most of them either charge quite a bit or just don’t bother anymore.

All you actually need is the radio’s serial number (it’s on a sticker on the unit itself, usually you have to pull the radio out to see it) . Once you’ve got that, the code can be generated pretty easily.

If you don’t want to deal with the dealer, you can just use an online service like radiocodepro.com — it’s usually cheaper and quicker than going through VW, and you only need the serial number, nothing else.
