Diff lockhelp.

Please help diff lock light just came on for no reason in a carpark and now won’t turn off. I had to do a 3 point turn to get out of the car park but now parked next to road. Hopefully haven’t done any damage.

This might sound daft......
If it were me I'd jack up one rear wheel, doesn't matter which one, and as the tyre loses contact with the road look for any sign of the wheel rotating to release any transmission wind up. If it doesn't, try turning the wheel to see if it frees it up, then try again to disengage the diff lock using the button. Sometimes electronic diff locks won't disengage if they are under rotational tension, as yours might be.
I have no idea why the diff lock would engage spontaneously, but right now you need to try to disengage it so that you can use the vehicle.

Tried that but still no luck. Any other ideas before the tow truck comes?

Sorted! Turned off traction control shunted backwards and forwards and the diff lock disengaged. Very likely because I lifted the back wheel and unloaded rotational the tension?? Not sure But it’s working again . Cheers @DaveD for the rapid answer.

Another tip is to reverse slowly and pull on the handbrake.
