Diesel smell inside van

Yup eggy smell is an overcharged LB. Is the “Diesel” smell, fumes or fuel?
Hydrogen Sulphide, overcharging may be the battery is a cell down and the charging equipment is overdoing it to compensate that or a fault in charging equipment I imagine its the battery. Do not smoke near to it or inhale either poisonous. Battery could be stress tested or just replace it anyway. That or take it out and test its voltage several days latter without charging it further and see what the voltage is.
I checked my leisure battery which is under the drivers seat. Once out it was clear that the battery was the cause of the problem. It was evident that the battery had failed as liquid was starting to leak out from the top sides.
Prior to removal I had turned on the ignition. The smell started immediately which lead to the battery. I could also here the battery solution bubbling inside.

Glad that you are sorting it and using it soon.
The vapour will cause corrosion, make sure you thoroughly clean all steel surfaces around the battery site.
I've gone to order the equivalent battery, powerline 019 non stop/start. None available, all out of stock but they do have one with stop/start which may have superseded the old one.
As this is for the camping leisure side of the van I'm unsure if this would work.
