Egrrrrr

New Member
Hi I’m looking for help.
I’d like to go into the mechanic with a diagram of at t5/6 of the route the exhaust gases leave engine (and circulate!) all the way with parts associated please? As this will help with my chat with why my parts are failing yearly thanks for any help.

Ok thanks. How long does that take as I’d like to have a study of it before tomorrow! Anyway thanks again.

No problem. To be honest I only upgraded first thing this morning. It took a couple of hours for my profile to update. Definitely worth it for what your looking for.
sorry to hear your having issues with EGR. I had 2 go on my previous van. I drove with my fingers crossed everywhere hoping the engine management light didn’t come on again!

Ok thanks I’ll look into that option.

Yes the old let it brake and then we will fix it idea rather than a thorough inspection by vw garage I think, plus the bad design by vw. An so I can’t be too harsh on the lads or ladies I suppose!

Not sure what you are after... part numbers? Or just principles of exhaust gas treatment?

Look up part numbers... how-to --->

Hi thanks mmi.
I’m looking to talk about how vw exhaust parts including sensors and software are considered individually by vw when they fail, yet relate to each part that may suffer any consequences on the exhaust design and software control rather than being properly diagnosed by eye, ear, feel or machine (as most seem to rely upon) before it’s too late.

As my egr was replaced last year and now had a 2 year warranty on that part yet this year the exhaust gas manifold they say may now need replacing and turbo Finns examined. Then to be determined if They all need replacing.
An has my egr now become contaminated by all this build up again should I get a new one again to be sure?
I pointed out at that juncture the van was shaking going from 4th to 5th but they told me no shaking on their little test drives (don’t ignore shaking as I probably did) and they just replaced what the diagnosis machine told them to instead of delving deeper into that shaking problem until I asked them is my current sensor problem related to shaking. They are saying it is not it’s the clutch most likely that needs doing

All due to closer examination by having to tell them to do so instead they probably just use the fault diagnosis machine doing a leak test I presume after the boost pressure sensor that had just been fitted and paid for did not fix the problem, which they now say is a exhaust leak triggering the flashing light glow plug light on dash and limp mode.

I don’t mind paying for labour but parts related Problems yearly of the exhaust system on a nice van is a pain in the.
I’m not going to have egr blanked either because it leaves you no where with the vw garage.
So is the dpf going to be next To go???
I think the sensors do not bring up the faults early enough to stop the inevitable damage to parts or is software even doing what it’s meant to do either.

Even though I did my best trying to remember to drive in 4th gear according to manual on every diesel fill ups for regens. etc.
Anyway hopefully we can discuss a bit of Buisness and not kill each other I suppose that’s why I’m trying to study it a little better.
But why do I have to figure out How these things all relate instead of them doing some proper investigating. Annoying really as I could be talking shite here either

So fix it or drive it into the nearest river is my dilemma! This will cost a nice few pound an will what part is going to go next

thanks for reading anyway.
