Deep step not fitting

I noticed that when i bought the van last week the side step wasn’t fitting properly. I found that I needed a deep step because of the ply board so I bought one. However, I’m still having problems fitting it. I’m assuming that it is because of the bit of board circled in blue.

Is this what is stopping the step to fit properly? Shall I chop it??

cut it out and adapt to fit the step.

or trim the step to match the floor.

Is your "deep step" actually a deeper step? Some people are known to sell the standard one described as being deeper.

Having a similar kind of issue. I bought a deep step from Van Style (had one on my previous van which was great). It is definitely deeper, but won't quite sit flush with the sliding door rubber:

Comparing the old (red circle) with the new (yellow box) there is more plastic on the end/side tabs which fit on the little ledge each side of the door opening.

Has anyone trimmed this bit down? Do you think it will help get the right fitment? I'm sure it isn't anything to do with the ply floor or the altro as I have trimmed this back. I guess trim a bit, then check and trim a bit more if needs be?

Don’t you have holes that they fit in?? under that bit of carpet.

You see, this is the joy of this forum. My brain is full of DC-DC chargers and 3 way switch circuits but there will always be somebody who can help sort the woods from the trees. Thanks a million @DingusOp
