New side step fitting issue

I bought this side step from Transporter HQ as now that I have added flooring I am aware that I need a deeper one as the floor has raised 12mm. However it wont fit.
Have I bought the wrong thing or is it expected that I would have to cut the plastic in various places to make it work? I bought their rear threshold strip and that worked just fine but this will need some work to get it in.

The main issue is the bits that stick down (circled in red) but it would also need a bit taken off the edges where it meets the rubber door seals as its a little too wide.

So going by that thread, I should cut back the wooden floor and there will be holes? will it matter that there is then no wood to support the part of the step nearest the door on either side?

Don't know ... surprised no-one else has commented ...

I would trim the step not the floor, you need the strength of the floor panel.
I have a Kombi converted with a California double seat bed so the step has been replaced, the new deep non OEM step is held at that point by a very small stainless steel screw at each end.
EDIT: I would also advise sealing the edges of the wooden floor as it will absorb liquid if spilt (not if but when).
