Can the auto air con be deactivated when the heating controls are set to screen? When you turn the dial to screen the a/c button lights up. If you press the a/c button to switch off the a/c is still activated even though the button light is off.

I’m a control(s) freak and like to choose when the a/c is on or off and not be over-ruled. I appreciate when the screen is fogged, a/c and blower is the quickest way to clear it.

Is there a tickbox in the ventilation set up I can access via VCDS?

Good question, and I'm not sure?

Lewis at is anyone knows,

If not we'll take a look.

Not seen anything in VCDS, but the question is, why? As you say, the most effective way to clear the screen is with the A/C on 🤷‍♂️

Because SWMBO often does not want a draught around her feet nor in her face so it gets put onto screen to still give some air movement.

Don’t always need air con on when airflow directed to screen!

Reduces MPG

And I dont like imposed choices.

I may be wrong but I think if you turn the fan control to 0 it turns everything off?

Just to re-ignite this, on a very looong and lonely 350mile drive yesterday, I got fidgety fingers. On my 2017 T6 Highline, if I switch off the aircon then move the direction knob to "screen", it does indeed automatically switch the aircon back on. BUT!!!! if I leave the selector knob on "screen" and press the aircon button, Voila! aircon off ,and wind on the screen. Magic our Morris...

And do you know for sure It was off? Most manufacturers let you think it's off, like you have done, but indeed it is not. I've never checked whether that is the case with the transporter as mine is always on.

I'll need to check now!

T6 AC does not have a clutch, the compressor is under constant drive whether loaded or not.
There’s better ways to save fuel.
