Over another pass today and into grindelwald. Our last booked stop. We have 3 night planned here but may only stay for 2 and have 2 nights in France, we will see.Very touristy and busy in grindelwald. Somewhere half over the pass British cars started appearing and now they are everywhere. Hardly seen any brits for 2 weeks!

Should be the eiger in the cloud with the snow on I think(Edit: I think the eiger is out of shot to the right of the one in front of the van and currently covered in cloud)

Short walk down the valley (below the Main Street of Grindelwald) gives some hope that this isn’t just Swiss Disneyland 
Checked out the cable car and train to the glacier up the eiger and it will cost £450 for both of us and we would need to reserve a seat so that’s off the agenda. Instead we are heading in the opposite direction. Still seems quite touristy (zip wire rides, scooter rides etc) but hopefully walking back down we will get a little bit of wilderness.

Battled into France tunnel, bridge, 80, 90, 110, 80, 70, 110 etc and then along the N19 which was pretty horrificArrived at last stop of the vacation. We are spending 2 nights in france
Camping de la Croix d'Arles, bar, restaurant and swimming pool and doing nothing until I drive (4.5hrs) to calais

I didn’t want to book ahead but thought I should and as it turned out a lot of the sites we visited had full signs up when we got there. There may have been other options in the area (booking in advance, especially ones you can easily book without emailing and awaiting a response limits the options from the start) but the sites were optimal for the activities we wanted to do so worth it.
This site in France is the only site I didn’t book before we set off and actually I was looking last night and was only able to book one night. In the end we got 2 nights when we checked in.
I haven’t mentioned that all the sites (before France) has had a guest card included which has given us free travel on buses, trains and cable cars. Really good option but the deal is different from area to area, South Tyrol the buses and cable cars were completely free, grindelwald the card was quite limited and included none of the things we wanted to do.
Walked into the local town which was very typically French. Wanted a entrecôte from the town square bistro but typically French it was complete by the time we turned up at 12.30 so instead had an amazing meal at the white horse hotel, only €26 for the 3 course menu du jour (decided against the €150 menu option) but it was proper posh grub, best meal of the holiday by far (excluding the bangers cooked on the cadac of course)
It’s pretty amazing but incredibly touristy, people from all over the world there. The mountains are worth it but you’ll need to get up early to avoid the queues. There are many other places in Switzerland and Austria which are as good but no where near as busy. Austria is also much cheaper to eat out in, has amazing roads and mountains too.
Thanks. We are just going through Switzerland to get to Italy and Interlaken area is on our route. The campsite we wanted at Brienz is 7 night minimum so thought 2 nights at Grindelwald would be good.
I think it’s worth it for 2 nights even if I did hate the town (Disney vibes). We paid for 3 nights but left after 2
