DE CH A etc summer trip

We knew rain was coming in tonight but decided to keep the awning and stuff up despite having to pack away in the morning as it’s good to have some cover. But as we sat watching the lightning coming in across the valley and everyone else pack away the wind picked up massively so quickly packed everything away and now a massive storm came in! Now sat in the van with the roof down and the fan on ventilate. Hopefully in it will pass in a bit so we can put the roof back up

View attachment 296423The village had a band playing next door and beer and sausages. Nice for the first 30mins when we were eating the food and drinking the beer but not so great 3 hours later when they were still at it!

Walked up the valley behind the campsite this morning. Absolutely stunning. Had lunch at a restaurant set in the high alpine meadows. Then headed back again. Baking here today!

Basically your beer drinking ability is 3 hours short of the mark.

First real let down of the trip, we visited krimmler waterfalls, very touristy, €8 to park, €9 each for entry, walk up a crowded switchback pathway to see a waterfall you could basically see driving byIMG_6388.webp
On to the next site via the gerlos alpine road. No picture of pitch yet as we headed straight to the pool!

Had another chance to partake in some local culture tonight:
IMG_6396.webpI’m not sure if they have the trade descriptions act here but there is a serious case of false advertising. “Let’s rock the mountains”! 3 piece Umpar band with a slightly pop twist, lead singer wearing a metallers leather jacket and lederhosen, closest so far to rock (and the only song I’d heard of) was highway to hell but that sounded like a CBeebies version sung by henning wehn. Also technically we are partaking as it’s all clearly audible from the van!

Hiya I have holidayed in winter a few times staying almost next to the Mayrhofen campsite I think you are in, does it have a small family of goats in a play area near it ? I was surprised how full it is in winter..it’s always busy, I am embarking on a trip next weekend which may see us following a similar route to you so am enjoying your updates very much !

That sounds like the place. I reckon the goats have it too good as they could definitely escape if they wanted. Hope you have a great trip! It’s an amazing part of the world

Highlight of the vacation so farIMG_6414.webpthat is supposed to be a joke but we look so happy I’m not sure myself now

IMG_6486.webpOne night (thank god) in Liechtenstein. Another muddy puddle this time directly across in front of another tent with seemingly no where for them to park or walk in and out apart from across our pitch
